Cylindo Global Summit 2018: The Future of Product Visualization

Written by Biljana Vidojevic | Sep 5, 2018 1:28:59 PM

Everything you’ll read in this blog post really happened. Yes, the secret formula in a bottle. Even the hula hoop games. And the human knot.

But let's go one step at a time.

The team gathered on Monday morning in one of our offices in Europe. Even though some of the teammates traveled all the way from Boston, everyone was fresh and excited for the upcoming week.

We kicked off the Global Summit with a recap from the last year and plans for the future.
The main focus was on the pipeline, our rendering technology and the strategies that will help automate, simplify and standardize processes to enable rapid scale.

What we’ve achieved so far

After launching the 3.0 version of the 360 HD Viewer, it became clear that we are moving towards a complete product visualization solution. Or as we love to say: It was a small step for the mankind, but a huge leap for product visualization. The 360 HD Viewer 3.0 is empowered with superior quality visuals, lightspeed load time and 4K HD zoom, supporting quintillion product variations.

Since then we’ve rolled out smart content tools to leverage visual assets - Cylindo CAPI, analytical solution for the Viewer - Cylindo Intelligence and the first-ever interactive room scenes - Cylindo Styleshots.

The two new offices, one in Europe and one in the U.S., were the cherry on top of a great year.

Time for a new chapter

The team worked hard to roll out some never-seen-before features, moving the needle in product visualization.

And as continuous improvement is at the core of our strategy, the transition from a product to a platform company was a logical move.

“It’s been an incredible year for Cylindo. We’ve doubled team size, more than doubled revenue - and we’re working on one of the most important technologies in eCommerce. The web is moving from a 2D to a 3D era, and we’ve established ourselves as the market leader in product visualization. The new website marks an important transition to being a true platform - and also paves the way for all the things yet to come. We’re working on creating an even more connected platform that empowers manufacturers and retailers to create delightful user experiences with close to zero efforts” – said Janus Jagd, CEO.

The Global Summit was a perfect time to launch our new company website that conveys the right message, positioning Cylindo as one platform for all product visualization needs.

What happens when a virtual team gets together

There is no generic answer to this question. It depends on the team. For us the week we spent together was all about melted/smoked cheese - tons of it. But also various workshops, finishing important projects, getting to know people, tackling ongoing tasks, launching the revamped company website and setting the pace for the future.

All work and no play makes jack a dull boy - so we decided to have a game day!

“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation" - Plato

The Sports Tournament revealed that some of our teammates have hidden talents, but that every single one of us is a real team player. No words needed, take a look at this ‘human knot’. We played the game for more than ten times, and we managed to untangle every single knot.

Cylindo DNA in a bottle

The launching of the new look and feel of the company website went smooth and in the planned time-frame. It was time to celebrate. We wrapped up the Global Summit with an awesome summer party, where we got the chance to talk about favorite drinks, childhood memories and learn some cool words in foreign languages. That’s the beauty of being part of a big, diverse group of people.

The surprise of the night was the cool cocktail in the color of Cylindo, named Cylindo DNA. Kudos to HR for the idea, everyone loved it!

Blazing trails into the future of product visualization

The Global Summit was just in time, to celebrate what we’ve achieved so far but also to prepare for the future challenges.

It’s hard to make product visualization easy - but we love challenging the status quo and pushing the boundaries. We’re excited about the future roadmap, sitting behind the steering wheel of the e-commerce revolution. Since the start, we’ve been committed to providing product visualization technology that helps brands and retailers sell more - and doing so with simplicity. Creating delightful user experiences remains central to our strategy.

It was an incredible ride so far, and the best is yet to come. We are changing the world one SKU at a time!
